Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

This policy explains what information Peak Lens: Mountain ID ("we", "the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

Information you give us

When you create a hiker profile, you provide your display name, date of birth, and optionally your location, favorite range, bio, photos, and social media links. If you post to the trail board, log hikes or summits, write reviews, or message other hikers, that content is stored with your account. The Lifeline safety feature stores the peak you are climbing, your expected return time, and GPS pings you share while it is active. If you contact us, we receive your message.

Information collected automatically

The AR camera and peak identification features use your device's camera preview, GPS location, and motion sensors only while the screen is open — they are used to identify peaks around you and are not recorded. Hike tracking records the route points you actively save. We also collect standard usage analytics (for example, which features are used) that do not include the content of your messages or photos.

Purchases

Pro subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, which handles your payment details; we never see or store your card number. We receive your email address and a record of the purchase so we can grant your access.

How your information is used

Your information is used to provide the app's features — identifying peaks, tracking hikes, showing community content, and keeping the Lifeline safety link working. Photos and reviews you post to public peak pages are visible to other hikers. Your profile is only listed publicly if you choose public visibility; you can switch to hidden at any time in Profile settings.

Hikers under 13

The app asks for your date of birth when you create a profile. Hikers under 13 cannot access social features, public directories, or direct messaging. Date of birth is stored only to enforce this rule and is never shown publicly.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with service providers that help the app run (for example, hosting, email, and payment processing) and only as needed for those functions. A Lifeline safety link is visible only to people you share it with.

Your choices

You can edit or hide your profile, delete photos, hikes, and board posts, or delete your account entirely from Profile settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, content, and personal data from the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page will change, and significant changes will be announced in the app.
